About The Therapist

Personal History

From the time I can remember, my passion was horses. I think my parents came to realize I was never going to let the thought of riding horses go, so they gave in and let me take riding lessons when I started kindergarten.

I started riding at the age of 4 and a half with Wendy Brownlee at Julie Winkel’s Maplewood Stables, just outside of Reno, Nevada. This became my real kindergarten. It was here that the groundwork of my horsemanship flourished. Throughout my younger years, my time was spent at pony camps, horse shows, riding lessons, or just at the barn. Between Wendy and her mother, Stephanie Powell, they became like a second family and filled my soul with the proper foundation to grow my skills and knowledge for a lifetime.

Somewhere in my timeline, around high school and college, I stepped away from the Hunter/Jumper world, but continued to follow my love for horses in just mere pleasure riding. I spent as much time as I could, between classes and working, on the back of a horse and learning what I could about horses in general.

After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, I moved to the little town of Alturas, CA to be closer to my sister, but ultimately found my husband. The incredible horseman he is inspired me to further my curiosity in horses and all they are capable of, and eventually back into competing. Most recently I have been enjoying starting and training my own horses for ranch work, the Reined Cow Horse events, and breeding and raising our own horses.

Personal Experiences with Micro Current

I would consider myself to have been a “non-believer” when I first heard of Acuscope and Myopulse. I thought it was just another one of those gimmicks that was a waste of money. That is, until I had a young horse cut herself on some wire and took her to a friend to have work on her. Here I got to see the expedited healing process before my eyes. It was at this moment, I thought, “If this is how well this therapy system works on external wounds, I can only imagine how well it works on internal injuries.” Soon I got to find out.

My show mare, Ruby (pictured above), tore her suspensory at the lateral branch and insertion point. I sent her to that same friend and we rehabbed her back to being able to show in under a year. This sold me and I dove deeper into the science as to how and why this system works, and why it is so different that the other systems like MagnaWave/PEMF, Shockwave, Bemer Blankets, etc. After completing the training course for certification, I gained a deeper understanding and will continue to expand my knowledge for horses, their biomechanics, the Electro-Acuscope and Electro-Myopulse therapy system, and the how to apply techniques and protocols tailored for each individual horse.

Here are some of the wound cases on my own horses that were worked on by my friend and colleague Shannon Ginochio of Equine Athlete Services. The photos demonstrate the expedited healing assisted by this micro current therapy system.
